South Korea Inflation Climbs To 2.6% In August


Consumer prices in South Korea were up 2.6 percent on year in August, Statistics Korea said on Friday – hitting a five-year high.

That exceeded forecasts for 2.2 percent, which would have been unchanged from the July reading.

On a monthly basis, inflation added 0.6 percent – accelerating from the 0.2 percent gain in July.

Core CPI was up 0.1 percent on month and 1.8 percent on year.
